Why do I need a Computer Healthcheck?

The aim of the Computer Healthcheck service is to make sure your PC is running as well as it should be. Cars need servicing and tuning to keep them at maximum performance and so does your computer! Over time the computer can clog up with unwanted files, programs, spyware etc. which can make your system grind to a halt. Because this happens gradually you don't always realise until a lot later. A Computer Healthcheck from Fixedathome.com will breathe new life into your PC.

The Healthcheck Service consists of the following:

• Temporary files removed
• Full virus scan with industry leading software
• Full spyware scan with industry leading software
• Existing security software checked and updated if installed
• Security software installed if none present
• Registry clean up and optimization
• Startup speed tuned
• Defragment hard drive
• General Windows Tune up
• Perform all available Windows updates
• Check and update device drivers
• Perform full Hardware and Software inventory
• Upgrade advice.(Free fitting for any upgrades we supply at the time of the healthcheck)

• Internal valet  - one of the most common causes for failure of PC hardware is dust causing overheating. (Not available for laptops)
• Full hard drive test
• Motherboard tests
• CPU tests 
• Power supply test
• Cooling fans cleaned and tested to ensure PC keeps as cool as possible (Not available for laptops)
• Internal cabling checked
• Optical drives checked for read/write capability

Please note:

To use our Computer Healthcheck service your computer must be in a working condition and be able to load Windows and access the internet. This service is intended as preventative maintenance not as a repair service. If you are having major issues you should use our general repair and diagnostic services first. You will be advised of any charges before additional work is carried out.

Due to the length of time it takes to perform the healthcheck it is only available in our workshop. We will collect and return your computer free of charge if you are in our free call out area. If you are outside of the free callout area then the usual call out charges will apply. Please see here for details of call out charges. Alternatively you can drop your PC off to us. You will need to make an appointment to do so.

Usual turnaround for Computer Healthchecks is 3 days.
